Thursday end of the day equity benchmarks extended losses in late trade. Sensex closed 205 points or 0.74 percent at 27,710. Nifty slipped below 8,550 to end the day at 8,510, 56 points or 0.6 percent.
The broader market slipped in line with the benchmarks indices with the BSE midcap and smallcap indices were down over 0.1 percent.
On the sectoral front, BSE Telecom indices were the top sectoral gainer.
Ambuja Cement and ACC capped the decline in the NSE benchmark. ACC closed higher by 4.68 percent. Ambuja Cement gained 1.69 percent.
ACC ( up 4.68 percent), UltraTechCement ( up 2.21 percent), IndusInd Bank ( up 1.62 percent) were the top gainer in the Sensex.
Axis Bank ( down 3.62 percent), Power Grid Corp ( down 3.47 percent), Bank of Baroda ( down 3.36 percent) were the loser in the Sensex.
