The Equity market started off the week with 1 percent loss. The market which opened in the red note in the morning, reacting to PM Narendra Modi's hinted tax hike on stock market income. the whole day market was volatile and fell to recover in the benchmarks. Sensex was below 26,000 and Nifty was below 8,000. Sensex ended with losses of 233 points or 0.90 percent at 25807.10. while Nifty slipped 77.50 points or 0.97 percent at 7908.25. About 585 shares were advanced, 2029 declining shares, and 151 shares were unchanged on the NSE. BSE Midcap index was down 2.17 percent at 11505.83. BSE smallcap index declined 2.10 percent at 11548.74.
HUL, Bharti Airtel, TCS, ITC, and Larsen were the major gainers, whereas Cipla, Lupin, Tata Steel, ONGC, and SBI were the losers in the Sensex.
