The end of the day, After a volatile start, the Indian indices closed on a positive note. Both indices stabilized as the day progressed and with impetus from ITC, Tata Motors, Reliance, and HDFC. BSE Sensex jumped 182.58 points to 26697.82 and NSE Nifty rose 51 points to 8221.80 while the broader markets under performed benchmarks, with the Midcap falling 0.4 percent. Out of 1500 stocks traded on the NSE, 732 declined and 686 advanced today.
NSE Gainers - Tata Motors 3.58%, Tech Mahindra 3.23%, BPCL 2.75%, Wipro 2.25%, Tata Motors (D) 2.10%.
NSE Losers - UltraTechCement 2.76%, Hindalco 2.75%, Zee Entertain 2.32%, BHEL 1.61%, Grasim 1.30%.
