The equity market closed on a flat note and quiet start to the October series. In morning trade market was the positive note and in afternoon trad washed it all gains but it was recovered gains in last hour.
Sensex was up 38.43 points or 0.14 percent at 27865.96. Sensex opened at 27,807.82, Touched a high of 27,955.21 and a low of 27,716.78 an intraday.
Nifty ended with gained 19.90 points or 0.23 percent to 8611.15. Nifty opened at 8,581.50, Touched a high of 8,637.15 and a low of 8,555.20 an intraday.
About 2060 shares advanced against 637 declining shares on the exchange.
BSE midcap index was up 1.95 percent at 13166.68. BSE smallcap index surged 2.13 percent at 12780.80. Bank Nifty was up 0.5 percent at 19285.70.
Aurobindo Pharma, Bank of Baroda, GAIL, M&M, and Grasim were the top gainers. While Cipla, ITC, Tech Mahindra, Bharti Infratel, and Coal India were the major losers in the Nifty.
